who are you, where do you live, (real name, age)?
I was born as Marco Scherer 24 years ago in Worms, Germany and that's where
I'm living.
what are you doing when you're not playing music?
For the first half of day I work as webprogrammer and -designer in a small
office in my hometown and the other half I spend to producing music and
other important things that life brings with it. Especially I'm working
hard on trying to improve my relaxation and that takes time.. =)
how did you come to music, did you play other instruments/music
before you came to psytrance (roots)?
I began to get interested in music when I realized the possibilities of
my old C64 and short time later I bought my first mixer with four mono
channels. I connected a tapedeck, a turntable, a portable cd-player and
a super nintendo or the C64 with the mixer and began "mixing"
those sources. Of course this was getting boring so I bought a djay mixer
with two turntables and began spinning. This was around 1992. Five years
later I gained some experience in producing music with software on a Commodore
Amiga and later on PC and it did not take long until I got my first synthesizer.
As I was interested in any kind of electronic music I produced trance,
techno, bigbeat, drum'n'bass, ambient, hardcore etc. etc. In 1998 we founded
plasticAge music as open organisation that combines production, djaying
and many more activities in different scenes. For a complete overview
visit our homepage at www.plasticage.de
Then in 1999 I visitied my first goa party and was impressed by this kind
of atmosphere and music. From then I got more and more into trance music
and eventually to psytrance.
what is your style, how and when did you come to trancemusic,
to producing, to your first gigs?
As I like any kind of good music I'm spinning more than one style, but
the one I like most is full-on. Not too melodic on the one side and not
too much shredder on the other. But I also like spinning a smooth morning
set. It varies from party to party and I always try to correspond with
the audience. One very important thing for me is groove as this is the
fact that makes my legs swing.
I came to my first gigs with sending mixtapes to anyone who could be interested.
A very traditional way I think =)
what is going on in your local scene?
About parties there's not much to tell as you'll find about two or three
parties per year within 40 km. But you can find many highly talented producers
here and I think some of these new impressions will be released soon.
Watch out for Pfälzer sound!
what does trancemusic mean for you, how importand is trance for
you, what do you use it for?
As said above I like any kind of good music but surely trance is the most
important for me. Especially concerning psytrance it's not only the music..
I understand psytrance as a combination of music, atmosphere and way of
life. When producing in the studio you can use any idea to create new
tracks, at a party you can share your vibes with all the other people
in a positive atmosphere and you can learn so much for "real"
life. I could not imagine living without it and all the experience I gained
since getting into this other world.
what do you think about our scene and where do you think are
we going to (development, future trend)?
Difficult question.. As anything develops the psytrance scene will do
too. At the moment it seems to leave the underground where it started
and for sure this will bring changes along. I cannot say what will change
but that's the interesting thing about it =)
what are your releases/events until now, (discographie)?
