Title: Anything You Want
Label: Sprout
Format: MP3/WAV
Released: December 2008
Review:
Alongside acts like Miki Litvak, Ido Ophir, Brisker & Magitman
and Perfect Stranger, AstroNivo is one of several acts with roots in
the psychedelic trance scene to make ripples on the broader progressive
house and techno/tech house scenes in the last couple of years. In less
than two years they have already appeared on releases on top labels
like Iboga Records, Vapour, Proton, Echoplast/Echoes, 303Lovers, Blue
Tunes and Flow Records, and on this, their newest single, they have
teamed up with the top Israeli DJ Zombi on the track "Anything You
Want".
Supporting the release is D-Nox' label Sprout.
01. AstroNivo feat. DJ Zombi - Anything You Want [128 BPM]
After a series of releases with focus on the progressive house
sound, AstroNivo is going techno with "Anything You Want" - a deep and
lazy, technoid track with a quite funky male voice-sample. The
atmosphere is quite gloomy, with a dark, droning bass as a steady
backbone and trendy, techy percussion to give the whole thing some
swing. Fine track.
02. AstroNivo feat. DJ Zombi - Anything You Want (Beckers Remix) [128 BPM]
Things get a lot groovier with the Beckers (now without his partner
in crime, D-Nox) version of "Anything You Want". It starts out quite
simple with a bouncy Beckers-trademark groove, but slowly progresses
into a very hands-in-the-air friendly tune in the last half with some
bright and optimistic tech house elements. A trademark bouncy outdoor
daytime tune like only Beckers knows how to - good stuff!
03. AstroNivo feat. DJ Zombi - Anything You Want (Miki Litvak & Ido Ophir Remix) [128 BPM]
The old partners from Domestic, Miki Litvak and Ido Ophir have both
been in top form in the last year or so, releasing some seriously
lethal progressive techno, such as one of the biggest tunes of the
year, the majestic "Shnorkel". Here they once again team up on a remix,
and the result is again top notch. It's not quite as monstrous as
"Shnorkel", but it will do the trick nicely with its big-room techno
pads and deep and dirty, throbbing bassline.
Bottom line:
With a title-track of fine quality and some well-respected
producers behind the remixes, the "Anything You Want" EP was bound to
be good - and it doesn't disappoint. The remixes stand out here, and
although we're not talking genre-defining tunes here, this release
perfectly hits the zeitgeist of the development of the
techno/progressive scene, and with tracks suited for both night-time in
the clubs as well as dancing in the dust outdoors, this should have
appeal for many situations.
Fine release!
