Freedom Festival 2009 returns to be held from 5 to 10 August at Monte da Chaminé

The 3rd edition of the Freedom Festival will be held on 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 August at the Monte da Chaminé, 5 kilometers from the district of Portalegre, Elvas.

All those who know the festival already know the scenario, but for those newcomers, the alliance between electronic music and "ethnic world music" is an unforgettable experience. The festival – which this year is themed after the forests of Cambodia, organized by the team of Crystal Matrix – returns in 2009 to join thousands of people from all around the world in witnessing a memorandum of fusion of culture, art, music, food, ideas and experiences.

As in past years, the festival will welcome the participation of many different collaborators and artists. This year one can expect something more complete from the Alternative Area. Each day will be specified for different music genres. Crush Visions Stage is the name given to represent the unity and celebration of different styles of music, as well as an overview of electronic sounds. The music speeds up and sounds, chosen by the Crush, get more eclectic. We will have La Resinance in Drum n Bass, Techno in Merlo and many others.

The Experience Lodge makes the difference, with new experiences to be felt and a good deal of sharing to be made. Especially now that the Chill Out Area joins together. From the amalgamation of sounds available in the world of art and dance, we will be able to learn and take the most advantage of all the workshops, conferences, concerts, movies and other activities. Designed to be an open doorway to new subjects, artists and thinkers, the Lodge is the space where art is encouraged and where participants are also animators. Three concerts are already confirmed – Tjak, Sonic Rockers HiFi and Olivetreedance. Workshops go from Art and Drama Therapy, Mandala and Slackline to African Tribal Dance, ODISSEA: Traditional Indian Dance, Astrology, and Contact Juggling Balls, among many others. On the last day, the LG DJs, Johnny Provider, Soundrise, Space Design, Saltwatersound, Bidu Ratatouille, Herb D'Foundation, Pico, Cepas, HippieNatura amongst others, will lead the audience in a sound journey ranging from the Psy Chill, Ambient and World Music to Classic, Dub and Jazz and more.... We will have an unforgettable newness that goes by the name of Blackminton and Speedminton. One will be experienced by night and one the other by day. Everyone will have the opportunity to experience this game where the imagination is the limit.

The Healing Area is dedicated to massage and relaxation. From Tuin to Ayuirvedric massage, massage therapy, reflexology, facial massage, Reiki and acupuncture. All masseuses are certified professionals in the area of massage they provide.

The Greening Event is “the” idea that will make this edition of the Freedom Festival to be more eco-friendly than ever. We want to create a sustainable event and for that to happen we request the full cooperation of all visitors. To implement a more conscious "green” awareness and consequent action the festival will be governed by 6 eco-rules:

1. Management of waste and protection of the soil
2. Preservation of water
3. Management of emissions, transportation and energy
4. Protection of local ecology
5. “Green” responsibility and local economy
6. Environmental awareness and activities.

"Respect nature" is one of the festival’s mottoes and further recommendations will be given to participants in order to minimize the impact the event may have on nature.

The last edition of the Freedom Festival had the presence of more than 60 stores. The mixture resulted in a cosmopolitan market and in a "melting pot" of colors and good vibrations.
