Goa Gil has a rich psychedelic history:

Gil grew up in the middle of the San Francisco music scene of the sixties; he then left to journey to India in 1969. Having been a musician all his life and then doing intense Yogic practices with Gurus in the Himalayas he tried to unite the two, (Music and Yoga), into One Spirit befitting this Age. The result was the Goa Full Moon parties, and his concept of "Redefining the Ancient Tribal Ritual for the 21st Century". His focus is in trying to use the party situation as a medium to uplift the consciousness of the participants through the Trance Dance Experience.

He says: "Since the beginning of time mankind has used music and dance to commune with the Spirit of Nature and the Spirit of the Universe... We are trying to use Trance Music and the Trance Dance Experience to set off a chain reaction in Consciousness... Through the Trance Dance Experience hopefully people will become more sensitive and aware of themselves, their surroundings, the crossroads of humanity, and the needs of the planet... With this Awareness comes Understanding and Compassion THAT is the need of the hour, and the true Goa State of Mind !!!"

He met Ariane in Goa in 1985. They have been together constantly ever since. Ariane's keen interest in African Djembe drumming and West African Traditional Dance has also had a big influence on the development and direction of Gil's musical tastes and concepts. Gil + Ariane s current musical project is The Nommos, and their goal is to combine Psychedelic Trance with West African Traditional Drumming in the True Spirit of the Ancients. Goa Gil ha una ricca storia nel mondo della psichedelia.
Nato nel periodo centrale della scena musicale di San Francisco degli anni sessanta; nel 1969 lasciò gli Stati Uniti per viaggiare in India.
Musicista da sempre e intenso adepto delle pratiche Yogi con Guru Himalayani, tentò di unificare le due pratiche, musica e yoga, in uno sprito che si adattasse a quegli anni.
Il risultato fu il Goa Full Moon party, e il suo concetto di 'Ridefinire gli antichi rituali tribali per il XXI secolo'.
Il fulcro della sua intenzione è quello di usare la situazione del party come tramite per elevare la coscienza dei partecipanti attraverso l'esperienza della danza estatica.

Disse:" Sin dall'inizio dei tempi il genere umano ha usato la musica e la danza per creare una comunione tra lo Spirito della natura e lo Spirito dell'universo.. Noi proviamo a usare la musica trance e l'esperienza della danza estatica per scatenare una reazione a catena nella coscienza.. Attraverso l'esperienza della danza ho fiducia nel fatto che la gente divenga più sensibile e consapevole di se stessa, di ciò che la circonda, degli incroci dell'umanità, e dei bisogni del pianeta..
Con questa consapevolezza nasce Comprensione e Compassione che sono le necessità del momento, e il puro pensiero goa!!"

Incontrò Ariane a Goa, nel 1985. Sono sempre stati insieme da quegli anni. L'interesse di Ariane è nella percussione Djembe africana, e la tradizionale danza dell'Africa Ovest ha sempre avuto una notevole influenza sullo sviluppo e direzione dei gusti musicali di Gil, e nel concetto. L'attuale progetto di Gil + Ariane è 'The Nommos', e il loro successo è nel combinare la Psychedelic Trance con le tradizionali percussioni africane, nel vero Spirito degli Antenati.
