Gappeq was born in 1979 in his homeland of the Czech Republic. By the age of 12 he had started playing both the harmonica and the country guitar, and by the age of 15 had already moved onto the classical guitar. When he reached 17 he started to explore the realm of making electronic music, whether it be DnB, Breakbreat, Trance, Ambient, or Dub, from which he started to learn how to play the keyboard. By 1999 he had joined the band SM Lomoz as a keyboardist, and finally went onto starting to write both goa and psytrance by 2001. His musical compositions brought together both psychedelic and electronic influences which were utilized in the band he played in, which in turn also educated him on arranging and composing music which he brought into the electronic music he wrote. By 2002 he had played his first gig at the Pleux Solaris party in the Czech Republic, where he released his first promotional album 'Vox Antipopuli'. He draws inspiration for what he writes from the music he listens to which includes the dark psychedelic Russian sound, World music, Dub, DnB, Experimental Metal, Breakcore and all extreme music (such as Venetian Snares, Noisia, Neurosis).
