DJ Matt BooM!, Zapf, Dick j.v.Blanco, Emmen , behind the fire department fl15,-

Hey all, Well, Emmen is not the regular choice for anyone from Amsterdam, but, as luck would have it, one DJ is one of the leading trance-DJ`s in the Netherlands, Matt Boom!, and a close friend that`s just shot off his career as well was playing there. And as luck would fail to have it, it would happen that the first part of our trip was disastrous for a start, but turned out nicely in a train [instead of a car] but with Jesse, Tom and Mandy as company, not much to go wrong for the long trip up north.

Well, almost, since we missed out entirely on the set by Zapf, who unconsciously and unwillingly converted us to come over. We as the Dutch travel tribe (or so it seems) were late once again. This happens far too often and we`ve already beat the hell out of each other for it, so please, don`t blame us for coming late.

Finally getting there, how did we get there anyway, o yeah, taxi, strange buggers over there, as to our experience is often the case with cabbies other than those in Amsterdam, though here even the Central was kinda weird. Not gonna expand on that though :) Finally arriving, we found that… we missed the set. What else is new.

Apparently, Zapf had played a groovy set, since the crowd was vividly bouncing and widespread alive. I was glad to see that the place was indeed a cool party-space with loads of opportunities for decoration. It was nicely decorated, in a dark environment. I can not recall all of the deco`s unfortunately, except some `fluormandala`s` and a backdrop to separate the dance-floor from the bar. What the hell the DJ booth looked like shall have to be told by the pics, I only remember they had a nice space to work behind. Overall, the deco might have been a bit more on the light side of colours, if you want your decoration to be remembered, or let them flashy lights move some more often.

(Editorial correction: I just didn`t pay too much attention apparently, looking at the pictures that were taken, it was pretty damn good job but for some reason couldn`t remember... or well there`s a reason, but That Is Personal hehehe :)

Next time I`ll be happy to step in for this job (lights) haven`t done it in a wee while, but have done it enough in the past to pick it up without trouble.

There was apparently plenty of space to dance, not too crowded, and many happy faces facing us at the entrance. Matt was having fun behind the decks playing a bit new-styled melodic trance. Wasn`t really impressive, but his mixing was damn good, as expected. He could`ve thrown in some more of the Noma of which I am quite certain he has though… ;)

Dancing my ass off was therefore due to three things:

1. Matt played, although not my selection and pitched up too much for my taste, a solid set

2. The crowd was obviously having a great deal of fun, so the Atmos was good to dance in

3. The sound system rocked. Not especially 20k, but it was a solid system with enough power to supply the dance-floor not disturbing the bar that was at the other end of the room. Besides that, the system was set up properly, so basically, the sound just rocked

Having said this, I suddenly hardly remember what came to me. I did not use any kind of stimulant for dancing, but still danced the night away. If one can accomplish such with a party, you have my deepest respect. I love to be able to dance a night away without feeling all sobbed the next day or two or three. Job Well Done. After a while, Matt spun harder and harder, and he could`ve slowed down but didn`t. He got all overexcited in his mixing, which was still very solid, but darn… not so faaaaast… Matt!! Please!!! use more delicacy! I know you can!! The local not-so-fluffy people came in at that point, so they had a good time drinking loads of beer and spilling just as much on the dance floor. The final track of his set was very funny and fit excellent in the set. A big plus for that. Be no coward and have a bit of humour in your set I say! Good job, though expected far more from track selection and the pitch was up too far in the latter hours. (Ed: to my taste, say, he got the crowd moving all the time no? =)

Next DJ, Dick (it`s a common name in Dutch, shuddup =) was well aware of the fact that Matt apparently wanted the crowd to get to severe exhaustion, which of course didn`t work well, but hey, did he know that some new party-entry`s were on substances other than overall common at goatrance-parties So, Dick took over and immediately slowed down with some grooves coming fresh from the Rhino in the Sky and I think I even heard Digital Structures, which is cool, `cause I dig both very much lately and before, which actually only counts for F.R. since D.S. is only a newbee, although a cool one, on the front. (Ed, the notoriously fat: in short, Dick started out slower)

Unfortunately, the party nearly came to an end waaaaaay too early, but there was some complication with neighborhood granny`s complaining about the to them stupefying noise that seemingly appeared to come back every now and then. Must`ve been the beat.

Police waited outside like if they knew I was there, but all those doggies and buses didn`t impress me too much so I didn`t step outside, but chatted a lil` with the local fluff checking for an after-party, upon which they unfortunately laughed politely. It`s only Emmen, them wondering where I came from, them more wondering I came from Amsterdam, me explaining to have come for the set that I`d missed out on. There was this one cool gal who had danced the night away pretty much enchantingly to which I never said bye, so, here you go, bye. (so, now u do know the reason of me forgetting about the deco =)

(Ed, the poor ol` lad: OK, left out something now, but that`s because it was no longer spontaneously added (which was indeed, pretty funny, but it took some time to get this online) =)

Anyway, To the point, there was a reason for all this manifest in blue. The organizer couldn`t help it anymore (person with appropriate documents stating legal presence there had JUST gone) but I think they`ve learned a good deal from that one ;)

OK, `nough of this blathering, I finally lost my jacket, or so I claimed to, but soon recovered it, left while we were congratulating Tom with his birthday giving him some presents to enjoy himself at home with (headphone-cd combo ;) and left in the care, er, car, of v. Eck, Zapf et Burkunkel. After a distant sleep I woke up to find myself waking up again and again in five phases. So much for the non-stimulant-driven energy ;)

Slept well, even Monday was awfully fresh, I think I`ll have another party just the same night as well. But that`s already yesterday, and I don`t think I`ll have to expand on that… Cheers Children of Ganesh and Sanne, (who did the floormandala`s and promotion) keep up the good work and keep carrying your United chef cocktails. We`ll be back, for sure!
